Fonds reflects the functions and activities of the President's Office of Nipissing University. The fonds contains seven subseries: academic affairs, campus facilities administration, establishment of Nipissing College and Northeastern University, faculty and staff, government relations, special projects, and university charter application.

Special projects

Series relates to special projects and committee work involving the President or President's Office staff. Series is arranged into two subseries: Nipissing Early History Committee and North Bay Quality of Life Committee.

Nipissing Early History Committee submissions

File contains records received by Nipissing Early History Committee in response to a call for donations of archival material relating to the history of Nipissing University from the 1950s to 1973. File contains photographs, correspondence, and short biographies of Norbert Schuldes and Charlotte Ames.

Nipissing Early History Committee

Series documents efforts by the Nipissing Early History Committee (headed by Susan Robineau, Secretary to the University/Board of Governors) to gather and preserve records relating to the early history (and prehistory) of Nipissing University, mainly the period from the late 1950s to the early 1970s.

Interview transcripts

File contains transcripts of interviews of Nipissing University faculty and staff that were conducted by history students for oral history class projects. Interviewees include Chad Cardinal, Al Carfagnini, Desmond Anthony, Roman Brozowski, Ed Monohan, Bill Hotten, Jack Jones, Stan Lawlor, Diana Walton, and Ted Chase.

Faculty files

Subseries documents the appointment, promotion, and tenure of faculty members, as well as the administration of professional development funds, travel assistance, and sabbaticals. Files are arranged by last name of faculty member and contain: correspondence; curricula vitae; academic transcripts; sabbatical applications and reports; applications for professional development funds and travel assistance; faculty reports, evaluation forms, grant applications and project proposals; teaching appointment forms and contracts; assessment reports relating to promotion; and awards nominations.

File contains records collected by Susan Robineau after Anthony's death in 2005. File contains correspondence, reports, news clippings, a curriculum vitae, and funeral programs .

University charter application

Series documents preparations for Nipissing University College's application for a university charter and degree-granting powers, which were carried out by the President's Office (under Presidents Anthony Blackbourn and Dave Marshall) and the Board of Governors' Charter Advisory Committee. Series documents: the preparation of a university charter submission; negotiations with the Ontario Council on University Affairs (OCUA); the campaign to build support for the charter bid among municipal councils, universities, businesses, and other organizations locally and across Ontario; the hosting of an OCUA fact-finding visit to Nipissing University College in November 1990; and the planning of celebrations following the granting of a university charter.

Government relations

Series documents Nipissing University's reporting to and interaction with Ontario government bodies responsible for education, primarily the Ontario Council on University Affairs (OCUA) as well as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Colleges and Education, and special committees, commissions, and panels including: the Committee on University Education in Northeastern Ontario (also known as the Parrott Committee); the Committee on the Future Development of the Universities of Ontario; the Advisory Panel on Future Directions for Post Secondary Education; and the Commission on Post-Secondary Education in Ontario.

Series contains one subseries consisting of annual reports submitted to the Ontario Council on University Affairs.
