Conolly Family postcards and photographs

File contains a postcard collection that was created by the Conolly Family, a pioneering family in South River. The collection consists of a postcard album and loose postcards. Postcards include photographs of South River (including the chemical plant and the Conolly home [?]), Sundridge, Magnetawan, Trout Creek, Huntsville, Toronto, and Vegreville (Alberta), as well as holiday greeting postcards received by the family.

File contains two De Luxe Coach Lines summer timetables for coach service between North Bay and Huntsville (with stops in Callander and at the Dafoe Hospital) and between North Bay and Temiskaming.

De Luxe Transportation Limited bus timetables

File contains De Luxe Transportation Limited city bus lines schedules for North Bay, and summer and winter timetables for coach service to/from North Bay - Ferris, the North Bay Airport, Champlain Park, Miami Beach, Callander, the Dafoe Hospital/Dionne Nursery, and Temiskaming.

Hartley Trussler

File contains a poster for the Powassan and District Union Public Library's exhibition "The photography of local historian Hartley Trussler," a map of Trout Creek in the 1890s, an article titled "Trout Creek logging railway" by Brian D. Westhouse, and two pages of thumbnails of Hartley Trussler's negatives.

J. A. Noel portraits

File contains studio portraits (some in presentation folders or mounted on board) that were taken by J. A. Noel, a North Bay photographer. Photographs include a first communion portrait and a wedding portrait.

Kervin Bros. Camp

File contains promotional and souvenir materials relating to the Kervin Brothers Camp (also called Kervin's Camp, Kervin's Houseboats, or Kervin Bros.), a tourist outfitter and houseboat operator based out of Callander and Sturgeon Falls. File contains: souvenir booklets relating to the expeditions of "Timmer's Fishin' Party" (a fishing party led by C.W. Timmermeister); a program from a fishing trip by Pennsylvania Greyhound Lines executives; promotional letters, brochures, and envelopes; and 2 postcards featuring the houseboats.

File contains two issues of a French Catholic newspaper published weekly in Mattawa. The two issues are: volume 1, number 25 ( June 21, 1895) and vol. 3, unknown number (April 30, 1897).

Near North outdoor recreation brochures

File contains outdoor recreation brochures for attractions in the Near North region including: the Corbeil Interpretive Trail, the Restoule-Upper French Canoe Route and Dokis Canoe Route, the Mercer Lake - Little French River Canoe Route, Restoule Provincial Park, Lake Point Cottages (on the south shore of Lake Nipissing), West Nipissing adventure trails, and trails in the Magnetawan area.

North Bay ephemera

File contains ephemera from North Bay including: business cards for Sunbeam Bungalow, Camp Bona Vista, and White Line Cabins; a booklet of promotional personal soap papers from City Deep Freeze Lockers; a label from Borden's Chocolate Flavoured Sweetened Malted Milk featuring the Dionne Quintuplets; a water bill payment card issued by the Water Department of the Municipality of the City of North Bay; and a Rotary Club raffle ticket.

Ontario road maps

File contains five road maps of the province of Ontario and Eastern Canada published by the McColl-Frontenac Oil Company Limited, the Travel & Publicity Bureau, the Ontario Department of Highways, Sunoco, and Imperial Oil Limited.

Ontario tourism booklets

File contains Ontario tourism booklets published by the Ontario Department of Travel and Publicity and its predecessors, with titles like "Ontario - Canada's premier province - The Lake-land playground," "Happy holiday haunts in Ontario - The ideal vacation land," "Ontario - Variety vacationland." Booklets contain general tourist information about Ontario and photographs of tourist destinations.

File contains photographs by Railton, a professional photographer based in North Bay. File contains portraits of a young dancer striking a pose and a young boy with a dirty face, as well as two landscape photographs.

Postcards

File contains postcards of North Bay and other locations in and near the Nipissing District including: the French River, Lake Nipissing, Trout Lake, Lake Nosbonsing, Sturgeon Falls, Mattawa, Nipissing, Callander, Lavigne, Bonfield, Monetville, Saint Charles and Port Loring. The postcards depict: tourist attractions (such as parks, lakes, beaches, rivers, and waterfalls), tourist accommodations (including hotels, cottages, resorts, and camps), city scenes and buildings (including schools, railway stations, churches, municipal buildings, hospitals, and factories), the Dionne Quintuplets, the Chief Commanda steam ship, and trains.

File also contains a few postcards of other places including Temagami, Timmins, Cobalt, Lake Superior, Pembroke, Haileybury, Owen Sound, and Prince Rupert, BC. File additionally includes several souvenir folders containing postcards of Ontario, North Bay, and humorous cartoons.

The Northland Echo
