Item is a bound collection of student projects which is arranged into three sections: Database projects (includes "General documents of the land registry" by Rob Shields and Scott McInnis, "North Bay land registry project" by Lisa Bell, and "French families in North Bay" by Carol Russell), Buildings and Monuments (includes "Empire building project" by Paul Servos, "Gateway to North Bay's monuments" by Anna daSilva"), and Communities and community groups (includes "The Italian community of North Bay" by Christine Orlando, "The Indians of Nipissing Land Reserve Number 10" by Carolyn Stone, and "The Orange Order and its early history in North Bay" by John Sawdon). Item also includes an introduction, appendices, and 2 CDs and 1 DVD containing interview recordings, photographs, presentations, and spreadsheets relating to the student projects.

Fonds consists of local history materials about North Bay and the Near North area that were collected or created by the Institute for Community Studies and Oral History (ICSOH) including: oral history recordings, student projects, archival records, publications, and ephemera. The fonds also documents some of the ICSOH's activities as a research institute including outreach, the organization of conferences and other events, and its administration.

Fonds is arranged into four sub-series: Events and outreach, minutes, oral and community history research collection, and student projects.

File documents Francoise Noel's interviews of North Bay Normal School alumni at their class reunion at Nipissing University. File contains news clippings, correspondence, interview notes (?), and copies of photographs (of the class of 1952-1953) and an itinerary from a 1953 class trip to Ottawa that were likely donated by alumni.

Series contains oral and community history projects created by students as part of their coursework for history courses including HIST 4375 (Community History: Approaches, Sources, and Methods).
